Switch Mode Power Supplies - PFC Boost CrCM / CCM

Infineon Technologies PFC Boost CrCM (Critical Conduction Mode) / CCM (Continuous Conduction Mode) helps shape the input current of the power supply to be in synchronization with the mains voltage, in order to maximize the real power drawn from the mains. CCM is the most popular topology used in PFC applications and is commonly used for medium/high power ranges (higher than 300W), for reasons such as lower current peaks and better line filtering in terms of cost and size. CrCM is more commonly used for low power (less than 300W) PFC applications. When active power factor correction is required, the boost converter is the most popular topology used in AC/DC applications, specifically in power supply products for servers, telecommunication, adapters, and more.
