Monolithic Power Systems (MPS) MagAlpha™ MA782 Angle Sensor
Monolithic Power Systems (MPS) MagAlpha™ MA782 Angle Sensor detects the absolute angular position of a permanent magnet, such as a diametrically magnetized cylinder on a rotating shaft. The timing is controlled by an on-chip clock or via an external controller, and the flags detect a definable amount of angle change. The MA782 offers a power cycling ability, making it an ideal choice for applications that require low average power. The MPS MagAlpha MA782 Angle Sensor supports a wide range of magnetic field strengths and spatial configurations, including both end-of-shaft and off-axis (side-shaft mounting). The MA782 features magnetic field strength detection with configurable thresholds to sense the magnet position relative to the sensor for specific functions (e.g., sensing the axial movements or diagnostics). The on-chip non-volatile memory (NVM) stores configuration parameters, including the reference zero angle position, the power cycling parameters, the filter window affecting the output resolution, and magnetic field detection thresholds.
The MA782 Angle Sensor is available in a QFN-14 (2mm x 2mm) package and has an operating temperature of -40°C to +125°C.
