Monolithic Power Systems (MPS) MP2790 High-Accuracy Battery Management ICs
Monolithic Power Systems (MPS) MP2790 High-Accuracy Battery Management ICs provide a complete Analog Front-End (AFE) monitoring and protection solution. These ICs are designed for multiple-cell series Battery Management Systems (BMS). The MP2790 battery management ICs support connections for 7-cell to 10-cell series battery packs with an absolute voltage higher than 80V on specific pins. These ICs integrate two separate Analog-to-Digital Converters (ADCs). The dual ADC architecture enables synchronous voltage and current measurements for cell and pack impedance monitoring. The MP2790 battery management ICs achieve a State-Of-Charge (SOC) error to within 2% when paired with an MPF4279x fuel gauge. The MP2790 battery management ICs include High-Side MOSFET (HS-FET) drivers for charge and discharge control. These ICs feature Over-Current Protection (OCP), Short-Circuit Protection (SCP), battery Under Voltage Protection (UVP), battery Over-Voltage Protection (OVP), and high-/low-temperature protection. The MP2790 battery management ICs are available in TQFP-48 (7mm x 7mm) package. Typical applications include e-bikes, e-scooters, Energy Storage Systems (ESS), Light Electric Vehicles (LEVs), power and gardening tools, battery backups, and Uninterruptable Power Supplies (UPS).
